Artwork Available Now

Well, even though this is work being done for the "Flesh and Blood" exhibition for March 10th of 2010 and running until April 25th 2010, Bert Green Fine Art is now making some of the new work available for purchase. Please contact Mr. Bert Green for more details at www.bgfa.us.

My gallery on his site can be found here.

Bert's Visit

"Death of a Salesman"

9 months to go.....
My gallery director, Bert Green paid a visit to my studio today.

It was a wonderful visit albeit too short.
His eye is sharpened to a razor's edge and his insights to the work's direction and especially the inclusion of the journals was taken well to heart. I will say nothing about the details here and now. Suffice it to say his words turned my head around and truly made me think. The hallmark of a good crit!
We nailed down the dates for the show. Much to my horror I lost a month of production (oh well...) and the opening will be March 10th, 2010 and close April 24th, 2010.

Seems each artist has that one person that no matter what is always there with the kick in the shorts, the encouraging word and the belief in the artist's work that serves as a touch stone for that artist. Bert is my touch stone.

2:30 am

2:30 am and I just finished painting.

Listening to Tom Waits, "Bone Machine". I just finished my latest journal on the eve of Bert Green coming into town started in September of 2008. 238 pages as they fall apart as I write. Just like my life. This was my wife's birthday this weekend and I didn't apply myself as I usually do.

I find I am falling down.

I feel as though when my work is doing well I am getting lost.

I feel as though I will not make this out alive.

I feel.

I suppose that is enough.

The Red Door

The latest to roll out of studio. Oils on gessoed print paper aprox. 11X16.

The Back bone of the "Flesh and Blood" Show will be my journals.

Close to twenty years worth of writing. I will now scatter to the winds. This will be the hardest thing I have ever done in the name of art. Within these pages are every single triumph and tragedy. All my experiences during the last two decades. I can only hope they all find good homes.

My gallery director is coming this Monday and I have a poop load to do.

Finish the "Red Door" piece and clean house. As always with no time and a toddler messing up what I had just cleaned right behind me.

But I am anxious to see what Bert has to say. I respect his taste and opinions. The formation work is going in right direction but the more matured work is yet to develop. I believe I am on track though for the number of works I want to have completed for the show.

I will let you know how it goes. Oh yea, and another page from the sketch book. Drawing of my ex.

Work on "The Red Door"

Sorry no new image yet. Suffice it to say I have labored over this piece more than any other and I think I turned the corner on it tonight.
Until I can post a new painting here is another sketch, one I think will make it to a painting.

Late Night

Just finished up painting.

Exactly 3:00am.

I will sit and ponder the nights labors for another half hour which would get me to bed at 3:30am. My beautiful son will get up (and me as well) at 7:30 or 8:00am. Now keep in mind that I am now 47 and this 4 hours of sleep a night thing is not as easy to do as it was in my 20's. Back then when I was crunching for a show I would put a couple of NoDose pills in the grounds of my coffee that I would drink at midnight.

Now I do it a la natural and it is kicking my ass. And I have a year to go!?!?!

I have to say that I think it is a little bit of life imitating art. My journal, my sketch book, my work and me are all falling apart. I would not be surprised if I died before this is all over.

Just another clip from last nights work.

This is off subject but relevant as it speaks to the work I was doing last year before I dove into the current body of work.
Here are a few books that are either available now or you can pre-order.
Let's start with "Carnivora." I was asked to contribute to this fantastic collection of artists by Les Barany who now acts as my agent, mentor and friend. He is responsible for breaking my dry spell with the invitation to add my voice to "Carnivora" The Dark Art of Automobiles. Through Baranybooks and Scapegoat Publishers.

Next is "Device" Volume 1 Fantastic Contraption through IDW Publishers. This is another project that Les turned me onto. The Device Gallery in Southern California where the show this book showcases is unbelievable and should not be missed if you find yourself in the area.
"Gothic Art Now" from Collins Designs showcases work from my "Icon" series, Hardcover.
And last "Digital Painters" through Rage Publishing and Artsquarded showcases digital paintings I did in Photoshop. This book will be out later in the year but available for pre-order now.
So here are the links to order:
